Attaching backing to reel using the arbor knot.
This is the easiest way to attach your backing to your reel. You can use a clinch knot, but it can slip on the spool. The arbor knot will tighten up and not slip.

As we fish and change our flies hoping to find that fly that works, our leader gets shorter and shorter. Before long we notice the thickness of the leader will no longer go through the eye of our fly. It is expensive to replace your leader every time this happens. Here we discuss how to extend the life of our leader by attaching tippet material to the leader using the Double Surgeon’s Knot.
